Cristiano Ronaldo became the first male soccer player to play in 200 international matches when Portugal faced Iceland in a 2024 UEFA European qualifying match in Reykjavik’s Laugardalsvollur Stadium.
Ronaldo is also the global leader in international goals scored with 123. At the 2022 Would Cup in Qatar, Ronaldo also became the first male soccer player to appear and score in five different World Cup tournaments and five European Championships. The Portuguese captain is currently under contract with Al Nassar of the Saudi Professional League.
During the match against Iceland, Ronaldo scored a goal in the 89th minute to give Portugal a 1-0 win. The win for Portugal keeps them two points ahead of Slovakia in Group J of UEFA European Championship qualifying.
