Qin Haiyang of China has broken the men’s 200m breaststroke world record at the World Swimming Championships in Fukuoka, Japan. The record now stands at 2:05.48. Zac Stubblety-Cook, who finished second in the event, previously set the record at the Australian Championships in Adelaide, South Australia in 2022.
Qin also took the gold in the 50m and 100m breastroke events, becoming the first to win the gold in all three distances at the World Swimming Championships.
American Matt Fallon finished third with a time of 2:07.74. Dong Zhihao, also from China, finished fourth in the 200m final with a world juniors record of 2:08.04.
