San Diego Padres third baseman and designated hitter Manny Machado hit his 300th career home run in the first game of a doubleheader against the Philadelphia Phillies. The homer came with nobody on and nobody out in the top of the eighth inning against left handed reliver Matt Strahm. The homer reached the second deck 425 feet away in left field at Citizens Bank Park in Philadelphia.
Machado’s home run was his 17th of the 2023 season and he becomes the 157th player to reach the 300 home run milestone in Major League Baseball history. Among active players, he is 13th on the all-time list. His 300th career homer puts him tied with Hall of Famer Chuck Klein, who played for the Phillies, Cubs and Pirates in the 1920’s to the 1940’s.
